Yashasvi Jaiswal ‘Learnt From His Upbringing, Not You’: Ex-England player gives a strong remark after Ben Duckett’s bizzare comment

Among the numerous performances that contributed to India’s victory against England in Rajkot, star batter Yashasvi Jaiswal’s was extremely memorable. The left-handed opener became the first Indian to strike two double-hundreds against England in Tests on Sunday, the fourth day of the third Test in Rajkot. Jaiswal’s maiden double century against England occurred in the second Test at Visakhapatnam, when he made 209 runs in India’s first innings. The 22-year-old’s second double century came in Rajkot, when he scored an unbroken 214 runs in the third Test of the five-game series.

Jaiswal also struck the most sixes in a Test series for India and became the first-ever player to score 20 sixes in a Test series globally, with 22 overhead boundaries against England in the ongoing Test Series.

However, after Jaiswal had scored a ton, England star Ben Duckett made a strange comment. “When you see players from the opposition playing like that, it almost feels like we should take some credit that they’re playing differently than how other people play Test cricket,” Duckett told the media during a press conference.

“We saw it a bit in the summer and it’s quite exciting to see other players and other teams are also playing that aggressive style of cricket. He looks like a superstar in the making, unfortunately, he’s in some very good form at the moment. He’s due a couple of low ones,” Duckett said while making a cheeky remark.

Nasser Hussain, a former England captain, criticised the England star’s statement.

“The comment on Jaiswal that he has learned from us. I am going to touch on that. He has not learned from you, he has learned from his upbringing and all the hard yards he had to put in while growing up, he has learned from the IPL. If anything, I would look at him and learn from him,” Hussain told Michael Atherton on the Sky Sports podcast.

“So, whatever they are saying in public and in that dressing room, I hope they are going back into their room with little bit of self-introspection. I can look at that lad and learn from him. Otherwise, it becomes a cult, doesn’t it? At times, Bazball has been described as a cult where you cannot criticise either within or externally. Even in this regime, there is room for learning and improving.”
