Senior CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat was prevented by police from visiting the troubled area of Sandeshkhali in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district. The police cited concerns that her presence could lead to a breach of peace in the area, which has been experiencing unrest over allegations of sexual assaults on women and land grabbing by local Trinamool Congress leaders. Karat condemned the situation, stating that the real breach of peace occurred when women were allegedly assaulted at the behest of the TMC, and she emphasized that the current situation is a fight for justice.
