Arsenal plot summer move for Ollie Watkins
Arsenal are reportedly keeping an eye on Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins with a view to making a move in the summer.
Despite recent goal-scoring form, the Gunners lack consistency in their striking options, with injuries and inconsistencies plaguing current choices Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has experimented with midfielders like Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz in the forward role, but a long-term solution is sought.
Watkins has attracted attention with his impressive tally of 13 goals and 12 assists in the Premier League. Despite a new contract binding him to Villa until 2028, the North Londoners may need to offer a substantial fee, possibly exceeding €100m (£85.6m), to sway Villa’s stance.
This represents a significant increase from the €34m (£29.1m) Villa paid Brentford for the Englishman in 2020.
