TRIBUTES have poured in for Strictly Come Dancing star Robin Windsor who has sadly died aged 44.
The ballroom dancer – well known on the hit BBC One show – previously dated singer Marcus Collins.
Who is Robin Windsor’s ex-partner Marcus Collins?
Born on May 15, 1988, Marcus Collins is a singer who shot to fame on The X Factor in 2011.
He is known for competing against Little Mix in the final, with the girl group winning the show.
On X Factor, Marcus was mentored by Take That frontman Gary Barlow, who continued to work with him on his debut album, which was a Top Ten hit.
His debut single Seven Nation Army, a cover of The White Stripes hit, also featured in the Top Ten.
Since his rise to fame, Marcus has switched his attention to musical theatre and is known for his work in the West End, which includes the productions of Kinky Boots and Hairspray.
Meanwhile, Robin Windsor was best known for being a pro dancer on the BBC‘s Strictly Come Dancing.
He also co-founded Burn The Floor, an international ballroom and Latin dance company, which is known for productions in the West End.
How long was Robin Windsor with Marcus Collins?
The couple were together for 18 months, before ending their romance in 2015.
The X Factor finalist and the Strictly Come Dancing professional first met when they passed each other in the corridor at the ITV studios in 2013.
During their time together Marcus revealed that he’d already discussed marriage with Robin.
Speaking to OK!, he said: “We’ve talked about what our ideal wedding would be like to get some insight into what the other is thinking.
“Our dream wedding would be somewhere like Downton Abbey, something fabulous in a British estate.”
Was Robin Windsor in a relationship before his death?
It is unknown if Robin was in a relationship before he sadly died.
News of his death was revealed in the early hours of February 20, 2024, but a cause of death is yet to be revealed.
The dancer’s death was announced on the Burn The Floor on Facebook page.
The statement read: “The Burn the Floor family has lost one of its founding members, Robin “Bobby” Windsor – who has tragically passed away.
“A BTF journeyman he danced with us for twenty years – including Broadway, The West End and all our crazy adventures around the world.
“His stunning image attached with Jessica Raffa defined our company, colourful, extreme and sensual.
“His talent, attitude, energy and personality helped create the Burn the Floor stage reputation. He leaves a void in our hearts that will never be filled, yet our wonderful memories will stay forever.”
Tributes poured in for Robin , with his strictly co-star James Jordan said: “I had the pleasure of working with this man for many years on Strictly.
“Everyone who came in contact with him adored him, from his celebrity partners to his working colleagues. You will be missed old friend.”
