Young girl airlifted to hospital after falling from window above Caffe Nero

A young girl has been airlifted to hospital after reportedly plummeting out of a cafe window in Kent.

The child was conscious as paramedics flew her from the Caffé Nero in Royal Victoria Place, Tunbridge Wells, to a London hospital.

Her current condition is unknown but it’s understood she suffered minor injuries.

Emergency service officials say they were told of ‘reports of a child falling’ 15ft on Friday afternoon.

A witness told KentOnline that they weren’t sure which window of the two-storey building the youngster fell from.

‘I just heard a lady scream with fear and then a little girl laying on the floor screaming and crying,’ they said.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) said crews were called at 2.25pm.

‘The child was assessed and treated before being airlifted to hospital in London for further checks,’ he added.

Health officials from Tunbridge Wells Borough Council have closed the upstairs of the cafe, prohibiting customers and staff from entering.

‘Under the Council’s health and safety enforcement responsibilities we are continuing a full and thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident,’ they added.

In a statement, Caffè Nero said the girl suffered ‘minor injuries’ as the coffeehouse chain joined emergency services in wishing her a ‘full and speedy company’.
