Parents scramble to nab £20 fancy dress costumes that have been slashed to only £2 & they’re perfect for World Book Day
PARENTS are racing to get their hands on children’s fancy dress costumes that have been massively slashed.
And with World Book Day, an annual celebration, over just two weeks away, if your little darling needs to get dressed up this March, you’ve come to the right place.
The big day encourages kids to dress up as their most loved characters from children’s literature and in the lead up to the big event, last week we saw shoppers go wild as Tesco and Matalan slashed the price of some of their most popular costumes.
We saw outfits in Tesco discounted to just £5, meaning shoppers could save themselves an impressive £13.50.
But now, the popular supermarket has reduced the price of their costumes yet again – with outfits now just £2 each – yes, you heard that correctly.
Shoppers went wild when they spotted that the outfits had been reduced yet again and many took to social media to alert other parents.
One woman spotted the reduced finds and made sure to stock up ahead of this year’s World Book Day – which is being celebrated on Thursday 7th March.
Danni Cousins took to Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, a private Facebook page with a staggering 2.4 million members, to show off her discounted buys.
As she showed off her little darling’s Toy Story outfit, alongside a picture of the Tesco till, she penned: “World Book Day outfits in Tesco. Reduced down to £2!”
The costumes, which were originally £20 each, have now been slashed down to just £2 each – saving shoppers an eye-watering £18.
Danni later shared: “This is Yeovil Store.”
Stunned at the bargain buys, Danni nabbed six costumes, including a Buzz Lightyear outfit and two Jessie outfits.
In total, Danni’s huge haul should have cost her a whopping £120, but thanks to the epic reductions, she paid just £12, saving a staggering £108.
However, another parent noticed that if you have a Clubcard, you can get the costumes even cheaper.
Christine Goddard also took to Facebook to show off her purchases, as she posted on Yellow Sticker Society, a private group with 202,500 members.
Christine was lucky enough to get her hands on four different fancy dress costumes, including Paw Patrol and Wonder Woman outfits, for just £1.80 each.
The thrilled bargain hunter explained: “All these at Tesco at £2 each, used my Clubcard and bagged them for an amazing £1.80 each.”
Christine’s four costumes should have cost her £80, but instead, she paid just £7.20 for the haul, saving her £72.80.
Christine and Danni shared their posts less than 24 hours ago, but they have clearly impressed many, as social media users rushed to the comments to share their thoughts on the bargain buys.
One person said: “Madness!
Another added: “Off to Tesco I go.”
A third commented: “So cheap!”
Shoppers rush
At the same time, many shoppers tagged their friends and loved ones to alert them to the reduced costumes.
One shopper tagged a loved one and claimed: “We need to check for the girls.”
A second asked a Facebook user: “If you see any of these, will you grab some please?”
Meanwhile, another parent told a family member: “Check in the morning.”
Whilst someone else mentioned a bargain hunter and wrote: “We need to go.”
