The Supreme Court has called for a recount of votes in the Chandigarh mayoral polls and asked officials to include eight rejected ballots, which had votes in favor of the Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Kuldeep Kumar. The Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, expressed concern over the way the election was conducted and criticized the returning officer, Anil Masih, for putting 'X' marks on the eight ballots, stating it cannot be allowed in an electoral democracy.
