Baltimore Sun high school Athletes of the Week (Feb. 12-18): South River’s Aidan Healey and McDonogh’s Autumn Fleary
Each week, The Baltimore Sun will recognize one high school player from a boys sport and one from a girls sport for their athletic achievements.
Boys sport Athlete of the Week: Aidan Healey, South River, wrestling
The standout senior grinded out a 4-2 decision over Meade’s Obina Onyeson to win the 190-pound title at Saturday’s Anne Arundel County tournament, one of three individual champions to lead the Seahawks to the team crown. Healey, who placed fourth at the Class 4A/3A state tournament last season, became a two-time county champion. He’s 41-2 on the season.
Girls sport Athlete of the Week: Autumn Fleary, McDonogh, basketball
The sophomore guard, last year’s All-Metro Player of the Year, closed out another sensational season with a 27-point performance in leading the No. 1 Eagles to a 54-53 win over No. 4 St. Frances in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship game Sunday at Stevenson University. Fleary added six assists, five rebounds and four steals as the Eagles (15-4) claimed their third straight title. This season, she averaged 16.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals per game.
