Record-breaking Netflix show confirms return with new series after string of rave reviews
HIT Netflix spin-off show Berlin will be returning for a second season after a string of rave reviews.
The streaming service confirmed that the Money Heist spin-off show would be back and fronted by Pedro Alonso once more.
Although Netflix have unveiled that the show’s stars will be returning once again for the hit drama, the show won’t commence filming until 2025.
Pedro plays the title role of Berlin and will be back with his gang on the show which acts as a prequel to the smash-hist Spanish series, Money Heist.
The show set records for a non-English language programme when it became the most-watched series globally on Netflix during its premiere week.
It officially found itself comfortably placing within the top ten in 91 countries.
In total, the show’s first series clocked up an astonishing 348 million total hours viewed alongside 53 million total episode plays.
Michelle Jenner will be back as Keila, an expert in electronic engineering alongside Tristan Ulloa as Damian whilst Berlin’s confidant Cameron will be on the show once more, played by Begona Vargas.
Also starring are Julio Peña Fernández and Joel Sánchez.
Berlin was first introduced to Money Heist in season one, and it was soon discovered that he was the Professor’s (Álvaro Morte) older brother.
A terminally ill Berlin decided to sacrifice himself at the end of season 1, part 2, so the rest of the gang can escape from the police.
Spin-off Berlin debuted toward the end of last year with fans over the moon that the franchise continues to live in on the new incarnation as well as exploring his life before the Money Heist .
