1. Microchip industry gets billions for Malta expansion
The U.S. has stepped up its computer chip manufacturing efforts with a major funding announcement. A $1.5 billion grant is going towards the expansion of the GlobalFoundries chip factory in Malta.

Law enforcement seized over 43 pounds of marijuana and $10,000 cash after executing a search warrant in Malta earlier this month. 13 people were arrested as a result, each of whom was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of cannabis.
