OCSO: Homemade explosives found in Orange County man's apartment
CHESTER, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Orange County man was arrested after deputies found three incendiary devices, drugs, and firearms in his apartment. Aleksey Titov (37, Chester), faces multiple charges.
On Friday, around 11 a.m., the Orange County Sheriff's Office members assisted the Rockland County Sheriff's Office in a search of Titov's apartment. A Rockland County Deputy reportedly found a bag with an improvised explosive device (IED) inside.
Law enforcement cleared the residence, secured the location, and evacuated surrounding apartments after the finding. The Rockland County bomb disposal unit (BDU) responded to the scene, and deputies reported three intact incendiary devices with several materials consistent with fabricating homemade IEDs.
Law enforcement says they recovered a loaded firearm, four loaded magazines, roughly 17 grams of psychedelic mushrooms, and a ballistic vest.
Charges:
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon (three counts)
- Criminal possession of a firearm
Titov was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment and was released on his own recognizance. He's expected to return to the Village of Chester Court at a later date.
