‘Fighting fit’ Owain Wyn Evans reassures fans amid concern by ‘going missing’ from BBC show with ‘radio silence’
OWAIN Wyn Evans has reassured fans after sparking concern after mysteriously vanishing from his BBC Radio 2 show.
The popular star hosts the Early Breakfast show on the network but was nowhere to be found yesterday morning.
Owain can usually be found on the airwaves between 4:00am and 6:30am where he wakes up the nation ahead of Zoe Ball‘s breakfast programme.
On Monday, his show was seemingly axed as it was replaced by continuous music for the entirety of the two and a half hour programme.
It sparked concern as fans were left fearing the star was forced to pull out last minute due to the lack of stand-in presenter.
It whipped X – formerly Twitter – up into a frenzy as a number of fans shared their thoughts over Owain’s absence.
Questioning what had happened to the star’s show, one fan said: “What’s occurring at @BBCRadio2? Supposed to be Owain yet all we are getting is continuous music and a radio silence from the main man himself.”
Another follower then complained: “No Owain this morning, just constant music – hope he’s ok!”
Before a third fumed: “Come on @BBCRadio2 What’s going on with the non-appearance of Owain Wyn Evans?”
The star was back on BBC Radio 2 this morning and set the record straight by speaking out upon his return to the airwaves.
Adopting his usual cheery demeanour, he shot down any fan worries.
Speaking at the top of his show, he said: “Well, good morning – normal service is resumed!”
He then let out a slight chuckle as he said: “If you listened yesterday, you may have detected that I was absent from the airwaves most of the show but I’m back now!
“[I’m] fighting fit!”
He then went on to introduce some of the music coming up on the show including Katy Perry and Bryan Adams and did not address his mystery absence any further.
The 39-year-old became the new permanent presenter of the Early Breakfast Show following Vanessa Feltz‘s departure in 2023.
Owain used to be seen on BBC Breakfast and North West Tonight as well as having guest reporting stints on The One Show.
