South Africa's unemployment rate worsened by 0.2 of a percentage point to 32.1% in the fourth quarter of 2023, compared with 31.9% in the third quarter. Statistics South Africa's Quarterly Labour Force Survey shows that the number of employed persons decreased by 22 000 to 16.7-million in the fourth quarter, while the number of unemployed persons increased by 46 000 to 7.9-million.
