My off-grid tiny house has a ‘natural’ pool with tadpoles and sea monkeys – people think it’s ‘nasty’ but I just laugh
PEOPLE envy her tiny off-grid home, but there is less enthusiasm for her “natural pool.”
People might think it’s “nasty” but this proud homeowner just laughs off the criticism.
She can, however, understand their hesitation because things are growing and living in this bathing spot.
Water lily pads add some beautiful color above the surface, and tadpoles and sea monkeys contribute to the ecosystem beneath.
It’s unusual but it’s all in keeping with Sophie Kovic’s (@sophiekovic) vision for a low-impact life.
She has chronicled the establishment of her off-grid lifestyle on TikTok.
There is huge interest in her journey and her platform has attracted over 302,000 followers.
Her home is situated on a community farm in Australia.
She owns her plot of land where she has created a unique home.
From her kitchen window, she can see her swimming area.
It has attracted equal amounts of awe and dismay from viewers.
It’s not for everyone, but she loves it and has even created a moneyspinner from her experience.
“Your guide to building a natural swimming pool,” she says of her ebook.
In the post, she shows that beauty care can be right on her doorstep.
“Who needs a pedi when you have a natural pool,” she says.
In her video, her legs dangle in the pool and tadpoles nibble at her feet.
It’s an established pedicure procedure in beauty salons but some viewers were turned off.
“I think I would cry. I’m terrified of fish,” said one person.
“Omg the snakes. I could never ever swim in a natural pool,” said a second person.
For other commenters, there was amazement.
“Do you all not swim in lakes? This is literally that, just smaller,” asked one person incredulously.
“Have you ever been in a creek? A river? A lake? The ocean?” enquired another.
There were plenty more who ached for Sophia’s way of life, however.
“This is so cool. I want a natural pool so bad,” wished one person.
