Man Utd have now sent in offer to sign striker with 321 career goals - report
Manchester United have already sent an offer to Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, according to French outlet Le10Sport.
The France international is leaving PSG at the end of this season as a free agent, and while Real Madrid are favourites to land him, the Red Devils have entered into the race.
Man United have a new co-owner in place, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants Mbappe as a marquee addition to their attacking ranks.
The Old Trafford club have not won the Premier League since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013, and INEOS reckon the addition of the Frenchman would help boost their chances in the title race going forward.
The 25-year-old has bagged 321 goals for clubs and country since turning professional, and having such a player will no doubt make Man United a force to reckon with in England and Europe.
However, whether they have a chance of beating Madrid to his services remains to be seen as Mbappe has dreamt of playing for the La Liga giants all his life.
Los Blancos are reportedly offering him wages less than what PSG currently pay him, and Man United could look to table a better salary to have any chance of convincing the 2018 World Cup winner.
The Red Devils will also need to qualify for the Champions League next season to have any hope of luring Mbappe to the Theatre of Dreams, but as Le10Sport stressed, their ‘chances of seducing KM9 are slim’.
They are currently sixth in the Premier League table after 25 games, five points off the top-four, but they need to improve their performances going forward to have a realistic chance of breaking into the Champions League places.
Man United have won 14 league games so far this term, but 12 of them were hard-fought as they won with a one-goal margin, and they could have easily ended up drawing most of them.
It will take the stars to align for the Red Devils to land Mbappe, but it appears they are willing to try their luck and it will be intriguing to see how things go.
