I’m a rich mum and we have babies differently – I think I would have died if I didn’t pay to get a full night’s sleep
A SELF-DESCRIBED “rich mum” thinks she would have died if she didn’t employ a night nurse to help with her newborn son.
Model Bayleigh welcomed her second child, son Christopher, into the world in January, and reflected on hearing someone saying that “rich people have babies differently” in a video on her TikTok page.
“I wanna say, yes, we do,” she began in the clip, which was recorded when she was still a mum-of-one.
“And I learned this the hard way.
“With my first child, I was like, it’s fine, I got it, no big deal.
“Six weeks into it, I was gonna die.
“And so I got a night nurse.”
She went on to explain: “A night nurse is exactly what it sounds like – a nurse that comes in and helps you through the night, because it’s breastfeeding every two hours.
“Babies cry, and I need sleep!
“It allowed me to sleep through the night.
“She took care of the baby at night, and when I woke up, I could give my full, undivided attention to my daughter, which was a game changer.”
Bayleigh did admit that having a night nurse was “quite expensive” but insisted it was “so worth it”.
In addition, all her neighbours were questioning why they didn’t have a night nurse to help out – especially as Bayleigh didn’t have any other childcare support during the day at the time.
And she said that with her next baby, son Christopher, she would be having a night nurse for him “straight out the gate”.
“I feel like every postpartum mother should have one,” she captioned the video.
People were quick to weigh in on Bayleigh’s video in the comments section, with one writing: “night nurse = push present!”
“Yessssss,” Bayleigh replied.
“And people still tryna convince me that money don’t buy happiness,” another added.
“Maybe it doesn’t but it sure makes life easier.”
To which Bayleigh replied: “It buys convenience and that helps.”
“One of the many reasons I’m not having babies until I can have all of these luxuries…I don’t wanna suffer having kids,” someone else wrote.
“My partner and I wanted to wait until we were financially stable & it was the best decision,” Bayleigh replied.
She also revealed that the cost of a night nurse depends on where you live, but she paid hers £16 an hour and she came for 14 hours a day.
Meaning for just one shift, the night nurse was bringing in £224.
