I was a Disney child star in a huge show – now I have a completely different job as the CEO of a company worth millions
DISNEY star Bridgit Mendler quit fame to become the CEO of a start-up company worth millions.
Bridgit, 31, was a familiar face amongst Disney Channel fans and also starred in number of films.
The American actress became popular for her role in movies like Alice Upside Down, The Clique and Labour Pains.
In 2019, Bridgit stepped away from the spotlight for a career in law.
The pop star completed a graduate degree at USC, MIT and studied at Harvard Law School.
Now she’s landed a brand new job as the CEO of the new space start-up Northwood Space, which landed around £4.9m in seed funding, according to CNBC.
She also took to her X account and re-shared the CNBC story.
She wrote: “Expect the unexpected!
“So excited to announce our $6.3M seed led by Founders Fund and with participation from CapitalAlso, Long Journey VC, Box Group, Mendler began.
“At NorhwoodSpace we have our sights on building a data highway between earth and space,’ she added.
“We are designing shared ground infrastructure from first principles to expand access to space.
“We have a lot of work ahead of us but that’s the fun part.
“If you like building quickly and seeing your work deployed in locations around the globe with real impact, we want you at Northwood.”
She has also opened up about how she “fell in love with space law” after working at the Federal Communications Commission’s new Space Bureau.
Bridgit said: “The vision is a data highway between Earth and space. Space is getting easier along so many different dimensions but still the actual exercise of sending data to and from space is difficult.
“You have difficulty finding an access point for contacting your satellite.”
Her current work is a far cry from her childhood in front of the cameras.
She burst on Disney viewer’s screens full time when she signed up for legendary show Wizards of Waverly Place.
Bridgit played the role of Juliet Van Heusen for four seasons.
The star was a hit with fans and landed a leading part in Disney’s next show Good Luck Charlie.
She played Teddy Duncan, the older sibling to baby Charlie and recorded video messages for her sister for her to watch back when she was older.
After the show came to an end in 2014 she starred in NBC sitcom Undateable.
As well as acting, Bridgit is also a singer and has released a number of singles, with her most popular being Ready or Not.
