BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The 2024 total solar eclipse will pass through Buffalo on April 8 around 3:20 p.m. But what will it do to the temperature?

But that's just an average; how much the temperature cools off depends on how long the total eclipse lasts, which varies depending on where you are in Western New York. Areas closer to the path of totality will experience a longer eclipse, which typically will bring the temperature down even more.

That means municipalities like Buffalo and Dunkirk, which are among the closest to the path of totality, will have the greatest chance of seeing the temperature fall by 10 or more degrees.
