Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Technology Rules for Her Kids Are All About This Key Factor & We’re Taking Notes
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr’s technology rules are so dang smart, and we’re taking all the notes about how to enact this for ourselves.
In a recent interview with EOnline, Gellar talked about the rules she and Prinze enact for their kids’ screen time. Specifically, Gellar discussed how she uses self-regulation to help make their tech rules stick.
“We have all of the screen time limits on their phones, so they get whatever amount of time per day that we deem acceptable,” Gellar said. “And then it shuts off, and it’s up to us to decide and say, ‘Hey, you’ve really been on it a lot. Go outside and go shoot some hoops or go see your friends across the streets.'”
She added, “The goal is that they will learn to self-regulate because they’ll be used to thinking, ‘Okay, it’s time to take a break.'”
Now, this isn’t the first time Gellar has talked about her and Prinze’s technology rules for their two kids. Back in Oct 2022, she told Yahoo Life’s So Mini Ways that “Our rules are probably stricter than most. Our kids don’t have social media.”
She added, “They’re allowed to look sometimes when it’s our phones [but] at that age, there’s nothing better than Paw Patrol. And now you’re 10 and [13], and you still have these tattoos on your face [from filters] and it’s not even who you are anymore. That’s a very hard concept for young kids to grasp.”
Gellar and Prinze met back in 1997 on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer, but didn’t start dating until 2000.
They got engaged in early 2001 and married nearly 18 months later, in Sept 2002. The lovebirds have two children together named Charlotte, born in 2009, and Rocky, born in 2012.
