Police need better strategies for domestic violence | READER COMMENTARY

America has a conundrum, and that is how our police forces deal with domestic violence issues (“Baltimore Police improve behavioral health response but need to triple officers trained for crisis response, monitor team says,” Feb. 16).

There should be plans whereby cops don’t jump immediately into the domestic fray. Perhaps more assessment of the situation at hand before attempting to enter a residence could conceivably be one starting point.

Too many cops perish when addressing domestic violence issues. It must cease because, if not, you will find the future holds the same ugly consequences when addressing domestic violence situations.
