Sevilla manager gives a rave review of Spurs’ Alejo Veliz after watching him in training
Sevilla manager Quique Sanchez Flores has said that he and his coaching staff have a lot of faith in Alejo Veliz, backing the on-loan Tottenham man to shine at the Andalusian side over the next few months.
After having to watch on from the sidelines for the majority of the first half of the campaign at Tottenham, Veliz would be chomping at the bit to now show his employers what he can do after joining Sevilla on loan until the end of the season.
The La Liga side have struggled to find the back of the net this season and the 20-year-old might perhaps fancy his chances of playing regularly if he can deliver in front of goal.
The on-loan Spurs man made his debut for the club on Sunday after recovering from his injury, coming off the bench in the 86th minute in a 0-0 draw against Valencia at Mestalla.
Alejo Veliz is already impressing at Sevilla
Speaking after the game, Flores praised the attitude that the young striker has shown and backed him to deliver the goods.
The Sevilla boss said about Veliz (via El Desmarque): “He has a lot of desire, he’s powerful, he comes from a club in Argentina where they are pure fire, and I think he’s going to give us a lot. We are going to have a lot of faith in him.”
The striker also spoke to the media after the game, admitting that he is now close to being fully fit and revealing that he already feels at home in his new surroundings.
The former Rosario Central centre-forward said: “The truth is that I feel very good. When I arrived, I knew it hurt a little, but I arrived very well. I was already training on the field and everything and, after three or four days, I integrated with the team.
“From the minute I arrived here, in Seville, it was what I was waiting for, what I wanted. Thank God, today I was able to debut with this beautiful shirt.”

The Sevilla boss’ words will be music to the ears of those at Spurs as it suggests that Veliz will get plenty of game time over the coming months.
One suspects that the reason Tottenham chose to loan the striker to Seville is that they got assurances from the Spanish club that the youngster would not just be warming the bench.
