Matt the Miller's closes Polaris tavern after 10 years
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Matt the Miller's Tavern, a casual restaurant known for its pub fare and happy hour, has closed one of its central Ohio locations after 10 years of business.
The tavern's Polaris Fashion Place location at 1436 Gemini Place welcomed patrons for the last time on Valentine's Day after owner CLB Restaurants opted not to renew the tavern's lease. Now, the concept is down to one central Ohio location at 6725 Avery-Muirfield Dr. in Dublin.
Opened in 2014, the Polaris tavern was inspired by the original Matt the Miller's in Kilkenny, Ireland. Building on favorites like fish and Chips and Bavarian pretzel bites, the tavern offered soups, salads, flatbreads, pastas, sandwiches, burgers and other entrees.
Matt the Miller's is one of two concepts operated by CLB along with Tucci's, an upscale steak and seafood restaurant with a location in Dublin and Carmel, Indiana. The restaurant group announced last year Tucci's is expanding with a new four-season dining room.
Restaurateur Craig Barnum founded CLB in 2011 after he split off from a previous restaurant group with partners Mike Tibbetts and Jack Eggspuehler. Tibbetts and Eggspuehler retained ownership of Oscar's Restaurant and Bar in Dublin which closed in January after more than 30 years of business.
Matt the Miller's Dublin location is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Learn more here.
