Big blow for United as they miss out on top target to Chelsea - Report
Chelsea are set to appoint Brighton & Hove Albion head of recruitment Sam Jewell in a senior position in their recruitment team.
The Athletic claim the 34-year-old has accepted an offer to join the club, despite interest from Manchester United.
The Seagulls have placed Sam on gardening leave after he informed them of his decision.
The recruitment expert has played a key role in Brighton’s success in recent years.
He is credited for the signings of Moises Caicedo, Alexis Mac Allister and Marc Cucurella – players who all left the Amex Stadium in big-money transfers.
Dan Ashworth wanted United to sign Sam Jewell
Man United have been trying to appoint Dan Ashworth as their new sporting director.
But they are facing big issues as Newcastle United are demanding £20 million compensation.
The Red Devils have no intention of meeting the Magpies’ demands, but the fact that Ashworth is interested makes it likely they will get their man soon.
The 52-year-old wanted United to appoint Jewell so they could work together at Old Trafford. However, he has decided to join Chelsea.
Missing out on Jewell is a big blow for United as he is widely considered one of the best in the business.
