Yankees’ Aaron Judge Says Toe Injury Will Require ‘Constant Maintenance’

0

New York Yankees star Aaron Judge suffered a significant toe injury after a collision with the concrete base of the center field wall at Dodger Stadium during a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers last season.

Judge sustained a torn ligament in his right big toe while making an incredible catch at the wall in June, an injury which resulted in a near two-month stay on the Injured List.

Judge spoke to reporters on Tuesday and said his toe has been feeling good, but noted that the injury would require “constant maintenance” throughout the rest of his career in order to avoid future flare ups, via Gary Phillips of New York Daily News

After hitting the IL in June, Judge was able to return to New York in late July. He did not undergo surgery at the time, and Boone later indicated in September that the Yankees’ star outfielder would avoid offseason surgery, too.

Although he didn’t undergo a procedure during the offseason, Judge made clear Tuesday that he’ll have to tread carefully with the right big toe going forward.

The 31-year-old is entering his ninth season in MLB, and he’ll be looking to avoid a stint on the IL after missing 56 games in 2023. He made his third consecutive All-Star Game last year, and the fifth of his career, while launching 37 home runs and logging a 1.019 OPS.
