My ‘controversial’ towel washing technique keeps them absorbent & smelling fresh, you should avoid two popular products

A cleaning enthusiast has shared her “controversial” hack that will leave your laundry looking and smelling as good as new.
In her video, Cary (@pairswellwithwhine) showed her followers each step of her towel-washing routine.
The TikToker referred to her technique as “the right way to wash towels.”
“I know this might be controversial and you might ask ‘The right way?'” she explained.
“Many want their towels to ‘smell good’ so they start adding all kinds of stuff to make it smell good not realizing they are just causing build-up, which in turn makes them stink and less absorbent.”
“So yes, I say the right way because after years of trial and error.”
She added that her tips “keep [towels] absorbent and keep them from smelling like [death].”
Tips For Washing Towels
- Use a quality detergent
- Use Downy Rinse and Repeat to tackle odors
- Use Oxi Clean to tackle stains
- Use Pine-Sol for grease and oil build-up
- Select cold water and a heavy-duty cycle
- Avoid fabric softener and scent beads
For her first step, Cary recommended using a “quality detergent” when washing your towels.
“Add [Downy] Rinse and Refresh to remove odors,” she advised her audience.
She also tackled stains with a scoop of Oxi Clean and Pine-Sol, which can help remove a build-up of grease or oil.
“Use cold water and [select] a heavy-duty [cycle],” Cary told her followers.
She loaded her towels into her machine, taking care not to “stuff” or overfill it.
“[People often] don’t use the right settings so they don’t get enough water in their machine and add like 10 towels at a time,” Cary explained.
After she turned on the washing machine, she revealed the two laundry products she always avoids when washing her towels.
“Do not use scent beads, do not use softener,” Cary advised her viewers.
“I’ve realized the wrong way is using normal settings and adding softener, scent beads, or mixing clothes with towels.”
