China reports travel during Lunar New Year up 47%

BEIJING, China: Tourism revenues in China shot up by a record 47.3 percent during the just completed Lunar New Year holidays.

Officials noted that tourism revenues were greater than earlier records set pre-Covid in 2019.

While significant, the jump in tourism revenues may not offset the deflationary risks amid weak consumer demand, which the Chinese economy continues to face, notes experts.
