I live off grid and at 22F it was too cold for my outdoor shower – now I have a bath with hot water, but it’s unusual
ONE woman living off grid has discovered there are limits to life on the fringes.
Her outdoor shower is fine most of the year when it’s sunny outside.
But when the temperature dips to 22F enough is enough.
So, being the self-sufficient type, she has created an indoor washroom.
It isn’t conventional or luxurious, but, as she has discovered, that is a relative thing.
She now has a bath with hot water and it feels pretty good.

When she’s showering outdoors, her pet pigs sometimes get in the picture.
She’s a pretty hardy type too because showers outside most of the year.
As it gets increasingly chilly, it’s time to set up an indoor washroom.
“I still have my off grid outside shower, but at 20 degrees, it’s getting really cold,” she said.
“We live 95% off grid. Take a tour of our off grid bathroom,” she said in her post.
The most unusual feature of this living space was her bathtub.
Ever functional, she has chosen a horse trough for that job.
“But I’m going to change it for another horse trough,” she said.
The room wasn’t finished but she was proud of it.
“We got to hang walls and put up some trim, but this is going to tie me up right now,” she said.
“I made a barn-style door and here is my hot water heater.”
It was certainly warm enough for her.
“It hits 122 degrees and I love it,” she said.
