Nintendo Switch fans can’t believe that five free games just dropped – and there’s a secret sixth
NINTENDO has two huge showcases this week, and the first Nintendo Direct showed 31 games coming to Nintendo Switch.
Nine of these games are out now, including Penny’s Big Breakaway, Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On! and Suika Game DLC.
Battletoads in Battlemaniacs is now available for free[/caption]However, five games were not only released during the showcase, but are free for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.
The first is Battletoads in Battlemaniacs, a 2D side-scrolling beat ‘em up platformer starring Rash and Pimple from Battletoads.
Originally released on the SNES, Battlemaniacs is not for the faint of heart, with super difficult fights and platforming challenges.
Also from the SNES is Killer Instinct, a 2D fighting game developed by Rare.
While there were plenty of popular fighting game series competing with it at the time, it was still incredibly popular.
From the NES library people can play Snake Rattle ‘n’ Roll, a 3D isometric platformer.
Playable in single-player or two-player co-op, you will guide Rattle and Roll around each course.
R.C. PRO-AM is the other NES title available and is one of Rare’s first successful titles for the console.
Similar to Micro Machines, you race remote control cars around 32 different courses.
These four games are available on the cheaper subscription tier of Nintendo Switch Online, but the next game is available only for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers.
Blast Corps was launched on N64 in 1997, and was the second best-selling game on the console that year.
Destroy buildings, solve puzzles, and fly around with your jetpack to explore each of the 57 levels.
There is a secret sixth game for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers.
Japanese players will receive access to Mother 3, the sequel to the critically acclaimed Earthbound.
Mother 3 was never translated into any other language which is why it’s exclusive to the Japanese subscription.
However, if you have a Japanese Nintendo account, you’ll be able to access Mother 3 as well.
