Suspect arrested in 2022 South Portland security guard murder

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A suspect in the 2022 murder of Sircharles Marc Anthony Jones near a South Portland hotel was arrested Tuesday, authorities said.

On May 6, 2022, Jones was found shot in a vehicle near the Mariott Hotel on South River Parkway. He had been working as a security guard patrolling the area at the time of his death.

According to Portland police, Cedrick Damon Washington Jr., 31, was arrested on Feb. 20, 2024, for second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.

The incident remains under investigation, but authorities urge anyone with more information to contact them.
