SAG Awards predictions by movie: ‘Oppenheimer’ will win 3 including Best Ensemble
After winning five Golden Globes, seven BAFTAs and eight Critics Choice Awards, “Oppenheimer” will continue its winning streak at the upcoming 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards, which will be handed out on Saturday, Feb. 24 on Netflix. Our official odds predict the Christopher Nolan film to win the most trophies of any movie of the night with three awards out of its four nominations. Those victories will be for Best Ensemble, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy and Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr. See a complete list of winners organized by film below.
“Oppenheimer’s” three wins mean that the film will be just one shy of the all-time record set last year by “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” which won four trophies; however, those three victories tie it with only four other films in the history of the awards that have won three time, which are “American Beauty,” “Chicago,” “The Help” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”
“Barbie” enters the awards ceremony with the same number of noms as “Oppenheimer,” but our prognosticators think it will go home empty-handed. “Killers of the Flower Moon” is close behind with three nominations and will take home one prize for Best Actress for Lily Gladstone. That category is one of the tightest races of the year as Emma Stone (“Poor Things”) looks to upset after her victories at the Globes, Critics Choice and BAFTA; the other hotly-contested race is Best Actor between Murphy and Paul Giamatti (“The Holdovers”). Other winners we anticipate are Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“The Holdovers”) for Best Supporting Actress and “John Wick: Chapter 4” for Best Stunt Ensemble.
