I’ve cleared my patio of weeds without harsh chemicals – the difference is incredible and it cost me a fiver
WITH the weather finally warming up, most of us are looking to get outdoors more.
If your garden isn’t quite summer ready though, there is a product to help it turn over a new leaf – and it costs just a fiver.
The gardener revealed that her space had become badly overgrown[/caption] With minimal effort and cost, she was able to transform the space[/caption]This is especially useful if you aren’t green-fingered, as this Amazon item will stop you from spending hours getting rid of weeds.
As if that weren’t impressive enough, it will also break down built up grime on your patio – which can be a major slip hazard when wet.
It’s not surprising that gardeners have been raving about the product online, with Facebook users revealing that it has made a huge ‘difference’ to their outdoor space.
Originally sharing the top tip in the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks group, one member revealed that she’d used a large 5l bottle of white vinegar to rid the patio of weeds.
Showing the dramatic before and photos, the woman revealed that grass had grown through her paving slabs before applying the non-toxic cleaning product.
The difference was startling, with her once over grown patio totally transformed by the simple buy – causing her post to go semi viral.
In the caption, she wrote: “I am still working on it but what a difference it makes…It kills the weeds off and stops them growing back straight away.”
Rather than spending hours scrubbing at her patio, this cleaning whizz simply left a mix of white vinegar and salt on the offending weeds for a few hours.
“You should certainly notice a difference by the next day,” she explained, adding that you can rinse off the paving slabs and remove any wilted weeds before treating the soil again.
Whilst it sounds too good to be true, this household hack works because the acetic acid in vinegar helps to break down the weed’s cell walls – causing it to shrivel up and die off.
The traditional cleaning tool also helps to remove any bacteria that may have built up on paving slab over the winter.
Even better, this fool proof hack is pet and child safe with vinegar being a great alternative to harsher chemicals like ammonia.
The Facebook user echoed this, saying: “It is pet and child friendly once dry. We have had no problems. My cat and neighbours cats have all been fine in the garden since.”
She did, however, advise other amateur gardeners to be carefully when they spray this mix, as it initially smelt strong and will kill off other plants.
“Do not spray it near any plant you like and want to keep as it could kill it,” she explained in the lengthy Facebook post.
If you weren’t already sold on this gardening tip, you can get your garden looking blooming lovely for less.
This is because Amazon currently has the 5L bottle of white vinegar for just £5.50.
You can also pick up large quantities of table salt on the website with a 750g tub costing only £1.50.
For those that haven’t done the maths yet, you can revamp your outdoor space for under a tenner.
Seems like everything is coming up rosy with this hack.
