I have people’s dream job as a professional chocolate taster – how I landed it and why I’m often banned from eating
WHEN it comes to dream jobs, professional chocolate taster is likely to be on many people’s lists.
So when Paula tells people she’s effectively “Mrs Willy Wonka”, she gets tonnes of questions about her work.
She answered them by sharing a TikTok slideshow documenting a day in her life, which began with her waking up at 7.30am and doing “a bit of light make-up”.
Paula then has her breakfast – a simple banana.
“We can’t eat for an hour before the shift and I can’t stomach anything heavier that early,” she explained.
Her actual work shift started at 9.30am, with Paula admitting she was “running late as usual” as she headed into the Mars Wrigley office.
She shared a snap of the ‘Sensory Science Suite’ as she noted it was “time to eat some choccy”.
While her “work bestie” wasn’t in, Paula got stuck in to that day’s tastings, kicking off with a Twix from France.
She had a list in front of her, on which she had to score “taste and texture attributes”, before she input the scores onto the iPad.
Next up, and her last taste test of the day, was some Bounty.
Once she was finished, at 12.30pm, Paula headed upstairs to the office Costa, where she picked up a medium oat latte for just £1.55.
“And home time,” she concluded, sharing a snap of herself grinning as she headed out of the building with her Costa.
“I have the best job!” she captioned the video.
Among the most asked questions in the comments section was how Paula landed the job, with one person asking: “How does one become mrs willy wonka?”
“I’m sorry… How does one aquire this job?” another questioned.
With Paula replying: “Honestly, I saw an ad online and I applied!”
“That’s just wild!” the person marvelled. .
Paula added in response to someone else’s query: “My tastebuds aren’t like extra special.
“I did have to do some tests to make sure they’re working well and then I had to undergo 6 months training.”
“Wait, why can’t you eat an hour before?!” someone else asked.
Whatever we eat before might affect how we score the sample,” Paula said.
“Some tastes can linger.”
“My dream job!” another added.
As someone else wrote: “I need this job!”
“It’s the best!” Paula confirmed.
“If you work for mars tell them to bring the mars delight back!” another pleaded.
“I wish I had that power!” Paula laughed.
