‘I’m stocking up’ scream shoppers as another supermarket slashes large Easter eggs to £2 – & they’re the cheapest around
A MAJOR supermarket has slashed the price of Cadbury and Nestle Easter eggs to just £2 and shoppers are buzzing.
Chains have been stocking their shelves with treats as it gets closer to the big day, and a price war has already kicked off.
Now Morrisons is the latest to bring in yet another offer, pricing large-size eggs at just £1.99 each.
The supermarket is reducing the price of its large 150g – 220g Easter eggs from £3.50 to £1.99 for customers with a More card.
The deal is available from today and shoppers have been flocking to their nearest stores to stock up.
Writing on Facebook, one customer said: “We need to go!”
Another wrote: “I’m stocking up!”
A third commented: “Were going to have to go tomorrow.”
And a fourth posted: “I’ll be there first thing.”
While another tagged their pal and said: [This] will be the cheapest!”

- Celebrations large Easter egg – 220G
- Rolo large egg – 202G
- Twix large egg – 200G
- Terry’s Chocolate Orange Easter egg & Mini Eggs – 200G
- Cadbury Twirl Orange traditional gift shell egg – 198G
- Cadbury Twirl traditional gift shell egg – 198G
- Nestle Yorkig large egg – 196G
- Cadbury Giant Buttons traditional gift shell egg – 195G
- Cadbury Creme Egg traditional gift shell egg – 195G
- Cadbury Mini Eggs traditional gift shell egg – 193.5G
- Galaxy Minstrels large egg – 192G
- Kit Kat Chunky large egg – 190G
- Smarties large egg – 188G
- Cadbury Wispa traditional gift shell egg – 182.5G
The discount is only available to shoppers who are members of the free Morrisons loyalty scheme.
It’s available both in-store and online.
Non-members will be charged the full price of £3.50.
But you’ll have to be quick as these deals usually only last for a week.
Remember it is always good to shop around to make sure you are getting the cheapest deal.
The closer it gets to Easter the more likely it is that other retailers will start competing to be the cheapest in a bid to get your cash.
You can use shopping comparison tools such as Google Shopping and Trolley.co.uk to compare the cost of items across different retailers.
Also, remember that there is a chance you can get a different offer in-store to what is online so keep your eyes peeled.
What other deals are available?
Morrisons large eggs offer isn’t the only one available at major supermarkets this week.
Last week the same chain slashed the price of its medium eggs to just 75p – although this deal has now expired.
Tesco has also cut the prices of its large Easter eggs to just £2 and shoppers can nab chocolate favourites including Cadbury and Celebrations.
The offer started yesterday Wednesday, February 21.
The large-size chocolate Easter eggs are priced at £3 unless you have a Clubcard.
The cracking deal includes a range of different Easter egg chocolates you will need to act fast as the deal is only available till March 5.

Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s has slashed the price of its extra-large Easter eggs with loads of popular brands on offer.
The supermarket has reduced the price of all large Easter eggs to just £4 for all Nectar card holders in the run-up to the holiday.
Before the offer most extra large-size chocolate Easter eggs were priced at £6 and this will be the price if you purchase the chocolate eggs without a Nectar card.
The deal includes a range of different Easter egg chocolates including some new additions.
By comparison extra large Easter eggs otherwise known as ‘giant’ Easter eggs usually go for around £5 to £11.

Plenty of supermarkets run wonky veg and fruit schemes where you can get cheap prices if they’re misshapen or imperfect.
For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme, offering boxes of 5kg of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50.
If you’re on a low income and a parent, you may be able to get up to £442 a year in Healthy Start vouchers to use at the supermarket too.
Plus, many councils offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund.
How does Morrisons loyalty card scheme work now?
Instead of getting points, shoppers currently receive digital coupons that can be used for instant savings in stores.
So shoppers don’t currently earn anything on their shopping, but they get “personalised offers” and coupons to get money off your groceries.
Last year, the supermarket launched a “basket bonus” which rewarded shoppers who made sure to scan their My Morrisons card or barcode on the app at checkout.
Members of the My Morrisons loyalty scheme can also take advantage of exclusive member-only discounts.
Customers will need to make sure they scan their physical loyalty card or the My Morrisons app at checkout to secure the discounted food.
The discounted products are available in-store at all 498 Morrisons stores.
Shoppers who aren’t a member of the loyalty scheme will have to pay normal prices and won’t get access to these exclusive discounts.
Meanwhile, Cadbury fans have been left fuming after realising an iconic Easter treat has been scrapped.
