A WOMAN has opened up about her life as a traditional wife – as she explained that she does her hair and make-up every day for her man, as well as all of the tasks around the home.
Estee Williams explained that being a ‘trad wife’, also known as a traditional housewife, involves budgeting, scheduling, learning and looking after the home for her husband.
Although people ask Estee if she feels guilty about not having a 9-5 job and spending her husband’s money, Estee shared that she implements traditional roles into her marriage and her job is to make sure her home is a ‘sanctuary’ for her man.
Posting on social media, Estee said: “How to be a traditional wife.”
Proper budgeting
When it comes to budgeting, Estee explained: “I think this is so important, living on one income, because most of us traditional wives are not living like the Housewives of Beverly Hills or anything, nor would I want to.
“I quite enjoy this more simplistic way of living.
“And learning to budget is a proper life skill to learn. Living on a budget is more of a sacrificial way of living, and it’s not that bad, honestly.
“Sometimes you say no to it just to have it later down the line. In fact, I think it makes me appreciate it more.
“Proper budgeting and saving up money ensures that this lifestyle is something you and your family can live for a very long time.”
Scheduling
Not only this, but Estee also stressed the importance of scheduling out her day, as she added: “I used to not do this, but I did find that my days are much more productive when I schedule out what I’m going to do, such as when am I going grocery shopping?
“And sometimes I do meal planning, but not all the time.
“What am I cleaning today? And what are my tasks? Laundry, gardening, whatever. My beauty maintenance. How much time do I need?
“Am I gonna be washing my hair or am I just gonna be doing make-up? What am I doing?”
Making routines enjoyable
As well as this, Estee shared that she makes her “everyday routine seem enjoyable”, as she continued: “Because as homemakers we do the same thing quite often, and making it more enjoyable really will make this lifestyle so much more fun and special.
“So for me, that really does mean putting time into doing my make-up and my house dresses, because when I look my best, I do my best.
“I also love wearing my aprons – it puts me in that mindset to start my daily tasks – I call it the uniform effect.
“But for someone else, that might mean something different.
“I know many people love listening to music and podcasts while they are cooking and cleaning.”
Learning
Being a traditional housewife, according to Estee, is all about learning, as she expressed: “Number four – never stop learning. It is so amazing to learn something new, such as sewing, embroidery.
What is a tradwife?
A tradwife (short for traditional wife) is a woman who chooses to take on an ultra traditional role in marriage, meaning she makes dinner and looks pretty whilst her husband goes to work.
The trend takes inspiration from the idea of a 1950s housewife. Many tradwives choose to dress in the style of clothing popular in this period (think floral dresses and frumpy cardigans).
Additionally, the values considered important to tradwvies are similar to strict Christian values.
Tradwifes state that they are not forced into this way of life, and believe that it is their purpose to be homemakers.
“Part of making this life so enjoyable is constantly being intellectually stimulated, and I find reading is such a great way to learn.
“And you get to read on anything that you want to learn, or fantasy books, whatever you’re interested in.”
The home is a sanctuary
Finally, Estee explained that in order to be a traditional wife, you must ensure that your home is your man’s sanctuary, as she concluded: “Taking the extra time to make sure the house is warm, it’s welcoming, it’s fun.

“It’s an environment that he looks forward to coming home after work.
“My husband prefers that I have all my daily tasks done while he’s at work. That way, when he gets home, we get to spend quality time together.
People left totally divided
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @esteecwilliams, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly racked up a staggering 125,500 views.
Social media users were left totally divided by Estee’s way of living and many took to the comments to express this.
One person said: “How do you get rid of the guilt of spending your husband’s money on yourself like buying new clothes or make-up.”
Another added: “This sounds so Stepford wife… I can’t…”
Whilst a third asked: “Are the 1950’s coming back again?”
To this, Estee replied: “There is no going back to the 50’s. I simply implement traditional roles into our marriage and share them online.”
Despite this, at the same time, someone else wrote: “You’re so wise, I love it.”
A second chimed in: “Love your content. God bless from another tradwife.”
