PYEWAKET TROPHY PRESENTATION
Ace 29er sailor Ben O’Shaughnessy was recently presented with the much coveted Pyewacket trophy. Having previously being awarded the trophy in 2020 this was Ben’s second time to receive the highly sought accolade.
Ben was presented with the Pyewacket Trophy by our Past Admiral Kieran O’Connell the night before he departed for the Youth Worlds (also known as the youth olympics) which took place in Brazil just before last Christmas. Ben clinched a Bronze medal on the final day of the competition landing him a well deserved spot on the podium. This win was a follow on from the huge success of claiming the Overall and Mens 29er European Championships in Stockholm last August. Ben and his crew Ethan Spain, won the title by a margin of 11 points, an incredible achievement for them both.
Ben is currently taking time out in order to study for his Leaving Cert exams in June. We wish him all the very best.
