Nepal gears up for T20 tri-series in India ahead of T20 World Cup 2024
In preparation for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the Nepal senior men’s cricket team is gearing up for a tour of India to participate in a T20 tri-series. Hosted by the Board of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI), the tournament has been dubbed the ‘Friendship Cup’ with the objective of bolstering Nepal Cricket.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) recently unveiled its interest to engage in a tri-series against the Baroda Cricket Association and Gujarat Cricket Association. Commencing on March 31, the tournament will kick off with Nepal taking on Gujarat in the inaugural match, culminating with the final showdown scheduled for April 7.
CAN officially declared their pleasure in unveiling the Friendship Cup T20 tri-series, highlighting the involvement of the men’s cricket squads from Nepal, Gujarat, and Baroda. The competition is slated to be held at the Sai Meghpan Sporrtslife (SMS) facilities located in Vapi. Furthermore, the Friendship Cup is not merely a singular event but is envisaged as an annual fixture.
