Millions of Brits warned of BBC channel move in latest shake-up – check TV now to avoid missing favourite shows
TV fans have been warned that some channels have moved place this week as part of a Freeview shake-up.
And it’s one to note for BBC viewers especially with two stations shifting their spot which might cause some confusion.
There have also been some new channel arrivals on the Freeview too.
The free broadcasting service has warned Brits that they will need to retune their TV or box to keep their channels and TV guide up to date.
As of this week, both CBBC HD and CBeebies HD have moved location.
The move comes following the closure of CITV last year which has left a gap in the Freeview guide.
But the station number changes are only minor, literally jumping one spot up.
Previously, CBBC HD and CBeebies HD could be found at numbers 204 and 205 respectively.
But as of today, CBBC HD is now at 203, while CBeebies HD takes the old slot of CBBC HD at number 204.
In other Freeview changes this week, news channel France24 has arrived at number 266 as a streamed station.
Meanwhile Nosey launches on 292 with classic US chat and courtroom shows, such as Maury, Jerry Springer, Steve Wilkos, Sally and Trisha.
Elsewhere, viewers in Wales will gain access to the GREAT! Movies channel in slot 42, which already exists across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
TV changes and closures
There have been a number of movers and shakers across the TV industry of late.
January saw the completion of the BBC’s major satellite switch off plan which resulted in the removal of all standard definition (SD) broadcasts in favour of HD-only.
And CBBC and BBC Four are set to shut down as linear channels next year becoming digital-only via BBC iPlayer.
Separately, the owners of Freeview will launch a brand new service called Freely in a matter of months that relies on broadband to beam channels into the living room instead of aerial, satellite or cable.
