Jordan North reveals secret help from famous friend to land new job – and reveals he’s been planning move for months
JORDAN North has revealed that he received secret assistance from a famous friend in securing his new job at Capital.
The presenter was announced yesterday as the new host of the station’s breakfast show, taking over from Roman Kemp.
Jordan will join Sian Welby in the studio when he starts at Global in April.
He will also reunite with his former Radio 1 colleague Chris Stark, who played a pivotal role in helping him secure the job.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Chris posted an Instagram welcoming Jordan to the team.
Alongside a sweet snap of the two hugging, Chris penned: “Welcome along lad.”
Jordan responded in the comments: “Mate, I can’t wait to get started.
“Thank you for all your help and support over the past few months, wouldn’t be here without you!”
It comes after it was reported that Jordan was left ‘blindsided’ by his Radio 1 exit.
Tensions between him and the broadcaster were running high for the past few months surrounding his exit after he told producers he wanted to leave.
A source said: “It’s a shame it ended on such a bad note after 10 years.”
On Wednesday Jordan opened up for the first time on his shock station switch.
Addressing his exit on Instagram, Jordan said: “I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all my wonderful colleagues / talented producers at Radio 1 who many I consider to be friends for life and will miss greatly, you’ve all reached out to me over the past 24 hours and it really has meant a lot.
“To my amazing fellow presenters I wish I could thank you all personally, I’ve loved working with you it’s been an absolute blast! Big love to Katie Thisleton, Greg James, Arielle Free, Ricky, Melvin & Charlie, Dean & Vicky, Clara Amfo, Matt & Molly, Scott Mills, Grimmy, all the rest of you fantastic lot, and of course my partner in crime Vick Hope…I’ll miss being on air with you every day.
“MOST IMPORTANTLY the biggest of thank yous to the fantastic listeners who have been really generous and always made me feel welcome, your kind words & messages have been so lovely, THANK YOU SO MUCH.”
He concluded: “I’ll be back soon, and can’t wait to see you all again.”
Jordan had been on Radio 1 for the past 10 years and worked his way up the ranks.
His first major show was Greatest Hits on Sundays.
Jordan joined the Radio 1 drivetime show alongside Vick Hope in 2021
