PG Classics - Omloop Het Nieuwsblad - Patrick Lefevere Edition

Omloop Het Nieuwsblad has been a World Tour race for a long while now but we’ve never bothered to add it to the Spring PG game. This year we have and to take us through the race we have the one and only Patrick Lefevere to help us out. Let’s get into it!

Me- Hi Patrick. Thanks for joining us to go through the opening race of the cobbled season. How are you?

Patrick - This is the men’s race yes?

Me - Of course.

Patrick - Good.

Me - So we’ve a course that’s about 5k shorter than last year but besides that, it’s pretty much the same. What do you think?

Patrick - It’s no Tour of Flanders.

Me - Quite. Here it is anyway.

The Course

Me - So why don’t we move on to those you think will make the race Patrick.

Patrick - If you say so.

The Favourites

Me - You’ve a strong team here. How do you think they’ll go?

Patrick - If Alaphilippe has anything to do with it, they’ll go to the bar.

Me - I’m not looking for clicks here Patrick so let’s just concentrate on the race okay?

Patrick - Me? Clicks? Never!

Me - Well then. I assume that Jumbo is your main concern?

Patrick - They’ve got more leaders than a Belgian coalition government. It’s all part of a plan to make Wout feel okay when he loses. We go into the race with a real plan.

Me - What’s that plan then?

Patrick - To keep Julian away from the pubs and frites.

Me - And if it’s not your riders or Jumbo, who should we look out for?

Patrick - Stefan Küng. He has a supportive wife at home.

In this game, only the race results matter. You're not committed to keeping the same riders throughout the series, you make fresh picks before every race. Our overall competition is just the sum of individual race scores. You're eligible for the overall even if you miss some races.

Pick 4 riders for the upcoming race. The order of your picks doesn't matter. All of your riders can score.

Riders score points down to 10th place. Less popular riders score more points than heavily-picked favourites. See below for scoring details.

The strict entry deadline is the official start time of the race, the neutralized roll-out or Départ Fictif. Be warned - if your post is timestamped one minute late your entry won't count! So do remember that there's no disadvantage to getting an entry in early, even the day before, because you may always change your picks up until the deadline. Feel free to rethink your picks when it emerges which riders are more or less popular with other players. If you make changes, post your revised 4 picks in a reply to your original post.
