Suspects executed in Ghazani Football Stadium by Hibatullah Akhundzada’s order
The Supreme Court of the de facto administration has announced that today, Thursday, February 22nd, the punishment of execution has been carried out on two individuals in a sports stadium in Ghazni province.
The Taliban High Court said that two men have been executed on charges of murder in a stadium in Ghazni province, with the approval of Hibatullah Akhundzada, the leader of this group.
The statement from the Supreme Court of the Taliban also claimed that the accusations against these two individuals were confirmed by the tripartite courts (primary, appellate, and cassation), and then their execution verdict was issued.
The Taliban court identified the executed individuals as Syed Jamal and Gul Khan.
According to the Taliban, Syed Jamal, a resident of Lora village in Maidan Wardak province, had killed a person named Amir Mohammad seven years ago, and Gul Khan had killed a person named Mohammad Qasim five years ago in Ghazni province. The Taliban claims both killings were carried out with a knife.
This execution comes at a time when human rights organizations claim that fair trial procedures are not being followed in Taliban courts.
A human rights organization called Rawadari stated in an investigative report that there are discriminatory decisions, torture, forced confessions from suspects, and lack of independence and impartiality in Taliban courts, violating the presumption of innocence.
Earlier, the Taliban in Ghazni had called upon the residents of the province to come to the Ali Baba football stadium in the center of the province to witness the execution of these two men.
According to the Taliban newsletter, some senior officials of this group, including the Chief Justices, had gone to Ghazni to witness the execution.
It is worth mentioning that the first case of executing the execution verdict publicly was carried out last year in Farah province with the presence of senior officials of the Taliban.
