Police apprehend suspect after occupied vehicle was shot at in Waterbury
One person is in custody following a shooting in Waterbury on Wednesday night.
The incident was reported in the area of 975 Meriden Road before 11:40 p.m. and involved an occupied vehicle that was shot at, according to Lt. Ryan Bessette of the Waterbury Police Department.
No injuries were reported.
Late Wednesday, Bessette said police responded to Meriden Road for an active investigation involving a firearm and asked the public to avoid the area, as the road was closed while authorities investigated.
“This is an isolated incident,” Bessette said shortly before midnight.
Early Thursday, Bessette said one person was in custody in connection with the shooting and that charges are pending. The suspect has not been identified.
Bessette said he expects to release additional information.
Meriden Road has reopened for motorists.
