The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Transportation Hon. Sola Giwa gave the charge during the ongoing retraining workshop for another Batch of 250 LASTMA Senior Officers on Incident Management at the Police Training School, Ikeja, Lagos.
Giwa disclosed that the two-day retraining workshop was in line with ‘Traffic Management and Transportation’ and is one of the cardinal programmes of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as captured in the administration’s THEMES Plus development agenda.
According to him, “The
workshop is not about stopping traffic, because there will always be traffic, but it is to prevent major incidents from happening so that the economy of Lagos and that of Nigeria at large would grow. The job of traffic management is very important because it contributes and improves the commerce of Lagos being a major driving force of the country’s economy”.
He further stressed that the Government mapped out these new retraining modules to aid the effective execution of duties as well as enlighten officers of the Agency on innovative ways to optimise their operations to meet international standards and best practices in traffic management.
