Report: Midfielder linked with Spurs gives greenlight to Juventus transfer instead
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta star Teun Koopmeiners, who is wanted by Tottenham, has now given the green light to join Juventus when the transfer market reopens in the summer.
Koopmeiners has continued to develop impressively since swapping AZ Alkmaar for Atalanta back in 2021, with the midfielder now widely recognised as one of the best in his position in Serie A.
Two weeks ago, the print edition of Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) claimed that Tottenham have already begun work to sign the 25-year-old, who primarily plays as a number six but can also operate further forward.
The report suggested that Spurs have ‘knocked’ on the door for the Dutchman while Manchester United had also expressed an interest in him.
Juventus now in pole position to sign Koopmeiners
Gazzetta now say that Atalanta are willing to sell Koopmeiners in the summer and will consider offers in the region of €60m (£51.4m) for the midfielder.
The report adds that the Netherlands international is aware of the interest from Man Utd and Tottenham but his preference is to ‘remain in Italy’ and therefore, a switch to Juventus seems likely.
In fact, the publication asserts that Koopmeiners has ‘already given his greenlight’ to join Massimiliano Allegri’s side at the end of the season.
Spurs Web Opinion
While Hojbjerg looks certain to leave Tottenham, I would not be surprised if Skipp also follows the Dane out of the door. It is thus highly likely that Ange Postecoglou’s men will enter the market for a number six in the summer.
