‘It’s not labour, it’s slayyyybourrr!’ Woman quips after filming herself doing full hair and make-up during child birth
THERE are plenty of moments when we want to look our best, but during labour isn’t usually one of them.
Despite being in excruciating pain, one mum decided to get fully glam before giving before and claims that it is a major ‘slay’.
Whilst most mums are excited to meet their little ones, Mariah Barents decided she wanted to meet her daughter with a full face of make up and freshly curled hair.
Rather than getting some much needed rest, the US mum decided to reach for her curling thong and pamper herself amidst her contractions.
Though being on camera is the last things most expectant mums want, the influencer even decided to document her pre-birth ritual in a viral video that has gotten over 2 million views on Tiktok.
Having been induced at her local hospital, the new mum filmed herself styling her hair and even captured one of her contractions on camera.
Despite the pain, the mum-of-one continued with her beauty routine and even filmed herself later applying make up in bed.
Sporting a fluffy leopard print headband, the content creator carefully dabbed on her foundation with a stuffed make up bag besides her.
Though we would endorse anything that helps mums take their mind off the pain, we can’t help but wonder why the Tik Tok star decided getting glam was what she wanted to do.
She even joked about this in caption, cheekily telling her 37,000 followers: “I would count this as a slay!”
In the comments, others also questioned why Mariah had opted to give herself a quick touch up with many mums amazed at her ability to focus on the task.
One concerned viewer questioned ‘But whhyyyyy?’, with others also similarly surprised her dedication to getting a full face.
Another wondered how this was even possible after experiencing a rather less glam version of childbirth.
They wrote: “Love this for you, I personally threw up and pooped during labor.”
“Am I the only one who sweats profusely during labour,” complained a third, adding: “No chance of makeup staying on. On the plus side, I had a nice natural glow for the pics.”
Others were more encouraging about the mum’s moment of self-care, with one expert even urging others to pamper themselves in the final stages of their pregnancy.
“I’m a birth doula and I love helping when my mums want to get pretty before pushing!” they explained, gushing: “It’s the sweetest girl time ever.”
Some mums even revealed that they’d done similar during labour, with many of them eager to get some last minute pampering in before the birth.
“I did this too and then sweated it all off when they made me get an epidural,” revealed another yummy mummy, as the video continued to get views.
