Columbia bests Ballston Spa to advance to Class AA quarters

EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Class AA boys basketball sectional playoffs got underway Wednesday night. Columbia played host to Ballston Spa in an 8/9 matchup between Suburban Council foes.

The Blue Devils pulled ahead to take a 16-15 lead into the second quarter. They widened the gap in the second, leading 33-25 at the half.

Columbia kept their foot on the gas in the second half, leading by as many as 12 points on their way to a 76-69 win. Evan Rainville led the way with 26 points.

The Blue Devils will take on top-seeded Niskayuna Sunday at 4:00 PM at Siena College.
