Re: Joe Hart set to retire
I know people say Ben Foster was better but those people are wrong. When Hart was with us he might well have been the best keeper in the world that season (Neuer apart, maybe).
The bizarre thing is that when Joe Hart was at Shrewsbury back in 2004 aged just 17 and made his debut for them, Bruce was our manager and our goalkeeping coach and our chief scout were virtually screaming at Bruce to go and watch him and sign him immediately.
Bruce dithered and dithered (this was the 2004-05 season) and decided to wait to see how he did the next season (05-06) when he became the Shrewsbury regular... eventually, by the time he agreed to go, all the Premier clubs had cottoned on as well and there were scouts from Everton, Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Old Uncle Tom Cobley and all.
