I work in a hospital & have heard some of the worst names ever – one woman even raged at docs over pronunciation of hers
A HEALTHCARE worker has revealed some of the worst and wildest names she’s ever heard at work.
She explained that one of the “favourite things” she and her colleagues do is discuss the bizarre monikers they come across.
She thought this name was pronounced ‘Civilian’ before being informed the VII is actually a Roman numeral, so her name is Caitlin[/caption] And while this seemed like a fairly simple Lea, it actually was Ledasha, as you “pronounce” the dash[/caption]While Abcde – pronounced Absidy but based on the first five letters of the alphabet – was doing the rounds a while ago, she insisted some of the ones she’s heard top that.
“We had a young girl who we came across – I thought her name was pronounced Lea because it was Le-a,” she said in a video on her TikTok page.
“But you actually pronounce the hyphen as a dash, so it was Ledasha.”
On another “very recent” occasion, a girl came into the emergency room and the doctor had to ask the woman how she thought you pronounced the name – which was written as Cviiilyn.
“I looked and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s easy, I really feel like that would be pronounced Civilian’,” she said.
“So he goes out into the waiting room and he’s like ‘Civilian, civilian’… nothing.
“After a while this girl stands up and says, ‘That’s me and I think you mean Caitlin.'”
Apparently the girl was “pretty unimpressed” that someone had got her name so wrong, and “proceeded to tell everyone” that the Vii in her name was roman numerals.
“So that was an eight, so her name was C-eight-lyn – Caitlin,” she added.
And about a “week before” that, there was a young child in the pediatric centre with one of the wildest names she’s ever heard.
“I don’t even know how they were allowed to register this,” she said.
“It was Shi-thead. And it was pronounced She-the-eed.
“But they had essentially named their child S**thead.
“And they thought it was hysterical while they were explaining it to me.”
People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: “Caitlyn and shetheed story cracked me up!”
“I call my son ‘shi-thead’ now when he’s acting up,” the woman replied.
“The coolest I ran into was a native lady who’s name was Araya Sunshine,” a third commented.
“My kid’s got a friend in nursery called Allergin,” someone else added.
As another wrote: “Worst I heard as a nurse is Kli-shae, pronounced ‘cliché’.”
“I still can’t get past twin boys Cash and Casino,” someone else commented.
“A traveller named their daughter’s twins in our local hospital, they called the girl Denise and the boy Denephew,” another laughed.
