I’m a full time stay-at-home mum but have 6 ‘fun money’ streams coming in each month – it’s even helped my marriage too
EARNING money when you’ve got kids to look after can be tough, but this stay-at-home mum has worked out a few savvy ways to do just that.
Lindsay Brooke wanted to have her own money to spend on fun things, but didn’t fancy going back to her corporate job after having kids.

She explained on YouTube that she wanted the feeling of earning the nice things she bought, without the hassle of a nine-to-five gig.
“I wanted to but fun things every now and then and I don’t want to feel guilty about it,” she said.
And although being a stay-at-home mum is still what she considers her full time job, Lindsay can now treat herself with her own cash.
She even revealed that her mini side hustles have helped her marriage, since she feels less dependant on her husband financially now.
The first way she does this is by selling handmade accessories on Etsy.
It started out with her selling fabric bows when she found herself with left over fabric, but has evolved over the years to sell all kinds of cute bits and pieces.
“There are so many different things you can sell on Etsy, if you like graphic design you can make prints, if you like sewing you can make handmade goods,” she explained.
The next stream of income for Lindsay comes from her YouTube account.
Since she already loved making videos, posting them online to make money from them seemed like the natural next step.
“I think everybody has a marketable skill, you just have to figure out what it is.”
“It’s taken me quite a few years to get to where I am now,” she admitted, but the mum said it’s also a fun hobby for her, and them money is an added bonus,
Thanks to the success of her YouTube channel Lindsay also gets to make some money through brand deals, which she also does on her Instagram.
She also earns some dosh through using affiliate links – where you can get a personalised referral link on certain products and earn commission when people use your link to purchase.
The mum noted that she uses two main programmes for this, Amazon associates and Rewards Style – although she noted the commission is usually a pretty small amount.
One of her most successful streams of income is reselling old clothes on eBay or other sites.
And it’s not just her own old clothes, if the mum spots anything in secondhand shops and thinks she can sell it for more she’ll pick it up too.
“You can make some good money,” she said.
Finally, Lindsay earns money through her skills as a photographer and videographer.
Since she already owns a nice camera for her YouTube channel, she explained she will sometimes film weddings and events.
“I think everybody has a marketable skill, you just have to figure out what it is,” she said.
“There are so many ways to make money,” she continued, as she shared some other ways to earn extra cash.
Babysitting was her go-to for mum’s who might have a spare couple of hours on the weekend when the kids are with their grandparents or friends.
“If you don’t like kids but you like animals you can pet-sit,” she continued.
Other ways Lindsay noted included tutoring, lawn mowing, or being an Uber driver in your spare time.
