Watch: Conservative lawyer whacks MAGA CSPAN caller for comparing Trump to Navalny
Conservative attorney Heath Mayo on Thursday took exception to a MAGA caller on CSPAN who compared former President Donald Trump's legal travails to those suffered by the late Russian dissident Alexei Navalny.
Toward the end of the call, the Trump supporter said that indicting Trump for trying to illegally remain in power after the 2020 election and for refusing to return top-secret government documents was much like what Russian President Vladimir Putin did to his political opponents.
"That's Marxist!" the caller complained. "When you are pursuing your political opponents and want to have them in jail!"
Mayo, however, took exception to the caller's claims.

"You said we are Putin -- it is not Russia or communism to hold political leaders accountable to the law," Mayo argued. "That's the opposite of Russia. They were never put Vladimir Putin on trial! Donald Trump is being held to the standards of the law. There are laws. There are facts that have to be presented according to law. And if that is proven beyond a reasonable doubt to a jury of his peers, that's the justice system!"
Mayo went on to emphasize that this is "the rule of law," which is what he said actually "made America great."
"That's something that's the envy of the world and something that Russians wish they had!" he said.
