Lara Trump’s bedtime ‘tradition’ requires her kids say Pledge of Allegiance every night

Lara Trump, a candidate for Republican National Committee co-chair, revealed Thursday that she makes her children pledge allegiance to the United States flag every night before they can go to bed.

Trump offered the biographical information to a crowd at Thursday's Conservative Political Action Conference.

"Now, some of you may know, Eric and I are blessed to have two beautiful children, our son Luke and our daughter, named after my home state, Carolina," Trump said. "Every night, Eric and I have a tradition. We stop whatever we have going on, and we go do bedtime with the kids."

"And while they say their prayers and the Pledge of Allegiance, of course, I often think to myself, what kind of country will they live in in 10, 20, or 30 years?" she added. "What kind of country are we creating for our children and our grandchildren?"

Trump concluded by urging the crowd to support her bid to co-chair the RNC.

Her revelation got swift reaction on social media.

"This is patriotism for really stupid people," posted Steve Singiser on X.

And Slate journalist Jim Newell commented, "It sounds like the silent crowd was also confused as hell about this."

The Pledge of Allegiance, a national symbol of unity and pride, is central to a heated debate in America's socio-political landscape.
